Who is responsible for your data
TetherNode, 885 R1 Block, Johar Town, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, email support@tethernode.com.
What we never collect
Your devices’ internet traffic goes from your PC straight into your VPN. It never reaches our servers. We do not collect:
- the websites you or your devices visit, your DNS lookups, or any traffic content
- your VPN configuration files or VPN login details. They stay on your PC.
- the list of devices connected to your hotspot, or their names, speeds and data use. These are shown only inside the app on your PC.
What we collect and why
- Account details: your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). We use them to create your account and sign you in, as part of our contract with you.
- Plan and device data: your plan, trial and subscription status, plus a random identifier, name and Windows version for each computer you sign in on. We use these to check your plan, enforce your plan’s computer limit and allow one free trial per person, as part of our contract with you and in our legitimate interest in preventing misuse.
- Purchase details from Paddle: your name, email, country, plan, and the date and amount of each payment. We never see or store your full card details. We use this data to provide your plan and to meet our tax and accounting obligations.
- Support messages: anything you send when you email us. We use it to answer you, in our legitimate interest in supporting customers.
- Basic technical logs: IP address, browser or app version and request times, which our hosting provider records when you visit the website or the app contacts our servers to sign you in. We keep these briefly for security and to fix faults, in our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe.
Cookies
Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. We use only cookies that are strictly necessary, such as the one that keeps you signed in to your account. Paddle may set its own cookies during checkout to process your payment and prevent fraud.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, which processes your orders, payments, tax and refunds as an independent controller under its own privacy notice
- our service providers for hosting, databases and email delivery, who process data only on our instructions
- professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, when needed
- authorities or law enforcement, when the law requires us to
International transfers
We are based in Pakistan, and our service providers may process your data in other countries. If you are in the UK or EEA, this means your data is transferred outside those regions. Where required, we protect these transfers with Standard Contractual Clauses (or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement).
How long we keep it
- Account and plan data: while your account is open, and for up to 12 months after you close it
- Purchase records: as long as tax law requires, usually 6 to 7 years
- Support emails: up to 2 years after your last message
- Technical logs: up to 30 days
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the UK and EU GDPR, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. To use any of these rights, email support@tethernode.com. We will reply within one month.
You can also complain to your local data protection authority, for example the ICO in the UK or your national authority in the EU.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords and limited staff access. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you and the relevant authorities about any breach where the law requires it.
Children
TetherNode is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
